  1. Do we deliver anywhere?
    • Yes at your home; shops; Airport; Train station; Bus station harbour - anywhere you would like but do check on the delivery fees?

  2. What credit cards do Carisma accept?
    • We accept all credit cards as long as the 16 digit number on the front of the credit card is raised and not flat. We do require a credit card at the time of handing over the vehicle to the client. We do an imprint of the card, which needs to be legible.

  3. How does the payment process work?
    • We do an authorisation on the hirer's credit card within 72hours of your hire starting. This excess amount is frozen in your account for the duration of the hire and unfrozen once the hire has ended, and final inspection & refuelling have been done back at the depot and all damages have been quoted on. If vehicle is returned over a weekend, final inspection & damages quotes will only be done the following week when actual office is open. The excess will only be released once the contract is finalized. The hire amount will be put through on the credit card once you have received the vehicle. Cash payments for the actual hire can only be done if arranged with management prior to the hire. The excess is credit card only.

  4. Can I pay cash?
    • We do not accept cash for the excess on hold The EXCESS amount is frozen on a CREDIT CARD the money does not leave your account it gets frozen in your account. You may pay cash for the car hire upon commencement of hire by prior arrangement with Carisma Management only BUT excess is credit card only.

  5. Are there costs for additional drivers?
    • No, We do not charge for additional drivers but we do require clear Photostat copies of all drivers' licences and either passport copy or id copy. We cannot hand over a vehicle without these copies. If your details are not on the contract you may not drive the vehicle under any circumstances.

  6. What do I need with me when I collect the vehicle from Carisma?
    1. My valid unendorsed driver's license. * This must be in English.
    2. Passport or identity book * we need clear copies of the above.
    3. If we are delivering to you please have copies of your drivers licence and ID or passport at hand to the Carisma staff.
    4. Most importantly your own credit card.
    5. The credit card must be in the Hirers name and the card holder HAS to sign the contract

  7. Can I pick up and drop off the vehicle at the airport?
    • Yes. Please enquire about airport surcharges you have to prebook this arrangement.

  8. What is the minimum age and maximum age to drive a Carisma car?
    • The minimum age to hire is 18 years old-enquire about the young driver's surcharge. There is no maximum age to hire, however for people under the age of 23 years and over the age of 75 years, the excess will double and an extra once off charge of R350 per 30 days will be charged do enquire!

  9. Can I reserve a vehicle for someone else?
    • Yes but we still require the booking form with all their personal details to be filled in, as long as they are the credit card holder and main hirer and we have all there personal particulars.

  10. Is there a additional fee for returning early or changing my hire duration?
    • If you return early you will lose the balance of your prebooked period of hire. Extensions will only be allowed if there is availability. Do contact Carisma offices in due time to check if there is availability to extend your hire.

  11. Insurance?
    1. All rates include Standard Cover plus a refundable Excess (payable by the hirer)
    2. Standard Cover is compulsory.
    3. Unfortunately if the tyres,windows/glass, upholstery,radios/Cd Player, mags,rims,hubcaps, tyres, immoboliser,keys are damaged or lost the client is liable for these. There is no cover on them
    4. Cover, whether standard or super cover, does not apply when the hirer is EG: Example- criminally negligent EG: being involved in an accident while driving under the influence of alcohol.

  12. Can I take the car into other countries or drop it off in other areas?
    • Clients must obtain written authorization from McHire should they wish to cross a border. Enquire about border crossing fees with McHire.

  13. Do I need a special license to drive the bakkies?
    • NO, our bakkies are only 1 ton and 1.3 ton. A Normal code 8 unendorsed license is adequate.

  14. If the vehicle is returned dirty will I be charged?

    1. 24 Hour Road Side Assistance with the AA
    2. Battery back up assistance with AA
    3. Locksmith assistance with the AA
    4. Third party Insurance coverage
    5. Vehicle insurance depending on your insurance option you have chosen either standard or super.
    6. 200free kms per day on cars and Bakkie hire kilometers according to client preference
    7. No charge for additional drivers
    8. 24 hour phone number to call for information with the AA

  16. What is the minimum amount of days I can hire the vehicle and do you allow long term rentals?
    • We do a minimum of a 3 day hire for cars. And 1 day minimum for Bakkies. 1 days is 24 hours long. Please contact Carisma in advance to make a booking for a long term hire.

  19. What are our office hours
    • Our offices are open from 08h00 to 17h00 Monday to Friday excluding public holidays. Accounts department is open from 08h30 to 16h00 monday to friday. For all after office hour Enquiries, Bookings, changes to your contract ( hires) and emergencies please call 0824163983 and 082 7800 135 DO call the AA - for battery back up, jumpstarts from leaving lights on,locksmith call outs etc. on 0800111998

  21. How do I generate a quotation online?
    • Go to our website www.carisma.co.za look though our fleet and when you have selected the car you wish to generate a quotation on click Select Vehicle a page will come up fill in your details and dates and click submit quotation. An automatic quotation will be generated this does not mean the vehicle is booked. If you are very serious about the quote and would like to turn it into a booking, use your reference number from the quote and MAKE a BOOKING: add in further personal details and card details. Carisma Car Hire will reply to your submission within 3 working days.   23. What do I do if my vehicle is not functioning properly?
    • Always ensure you check oil and water on the vehicle when ever you filling up at the petrol station. If by some chance the vehicle requires OIL please put oil into the vehicle and keep the slip we will reimburse you for this. Phone Carisma immediately if there are any problems with the vehicle or noises you are not happy with we will rectify the problem as soon as humanly possible or swop you into another vehicle at everyones earliest convenience. Treat the vehicle like its your own vehicle.

  24. Can I tow with a Carisma vehicle?
    • We charge extra for towing and only have towbars on one or two vehicles, its not something we promote. So do enquire
